Empowerment Course for Transgender Men: Your Path to Self-Discovery and Growth

Welcome to Loveology University’s preview of our course on Transgender Female to Male: An Overview of Trans Men’s Experience. This course offers a comprehensive overview of the transgender man’s experience, and how a person born physically as a woman can transition to a man’s gender assignment through testosterone hormone therapy and surgical reassignment procedures. The course covers the psychological and social aspects of gender dysphoria and transition, as well as trans male sexuality, sexual partners, dating, packing, sex tools and how to shift perspective to become one’s true male self.

What is Transgender?

  • Transgender identified individuals are people who strongly feel that they ought to be the opposite sex.
  • The body they were born with does not match their own inner belief and mental image of who they want to be.
  • Transgender people also do not feel comfortable with the gender role society expects them to portray based on their biological body.

Female-to-Male Transgender

  • There are many ways trans people choose to identify in the community.
  • A female-to-male transgender or trans man is an individual who was assigned female at birth but identifies as a male.
  • This individual may undergo transition involving dressing in masculine clothes, hormone therapy, or surgery.

Theories of Etiology

Gender incongruity is one the most misunderstood areas of human behavior. Various theories have been put forth in an attempt to explain the transgender phenomenon.

Some of the theories include psychoanalytic, early biological, environmental, prenatal hormonal influences, genetic influences, and neurodevelopment hypotheses.

While each theory offers a different point of view, there isn’t a single theory capable of fully explaining the etiology of transgender identity.

Historical Perspective

While there is still no scientific agreement about a single etiology leading to gender dysphoria, one indisputable fact remains:

transgender exists and has always existed.

Historical accounts point to transgender individuals who have existed throughout recorded history.

“It is not so much that there have always been transgendered people: it’s that there have always been cultures that imposed regimes of gender”—Riki Wilchins, Founder of genderPAC, the first national transgender advocacy group

Finding Your True Self

Coming to understand gender as an identity is a key first step in finding your true self.

For many transgender individuals, the journey to finding their true self can take place at different times in their lives.

Most people are painfully aware of their gender incongruity from early childhood, while others become aware in early to late adulthood.

Acceptance of Trans Bodies

Because today’s society and culture still struggles with fully accepting transgender identity, many trans men feel shame, fear, and guilt about their bodies and sexualities.

Helping trans men accept their feelings and desires as valid is an important step toward loving their bodies. There are many ways to do this, from practicing self affirmations or engaging in therapy to engaging in sensory touch exercises.
